Sivuv She'arim: Recommitting to the Mount

After a hiatus of several months, during which the police would not allow the traditional Rosh Chodesh sivuv she'arim, (encircling of the Temple Mount), to take place due to alleged security concerns, the festive gathering was renewed this Rosh Chodesh Av, (July 12, 2010). A record crowd of over 12,000 Jewish souls arrived to celebrate the new month and to express their yearing for the Holy Temple. The gathering marched around the circumference of the Temple Mount, stopping before each of the gates which lead up to the Mount. Outside the Mercy Gate, (Sha'ar HaRachamim), on the eastern retaining wall of the Mount, the people assembled and made a special declaration of loyalty to the Temple Mount and the Holy Temple.

Members of Kneset and prominent Rabbis spoke. For more coverage of the event, please click here.
