The area between the soreg and the wall of the Courtyard is called the Chail. In the Chail, there were 12 stairs leading to the courtyards of the Holy Temple. When the Eve of Passover occurred on Shabbat, the second group of people sacrificing the Passover offering waited in the Chail before exiting the Temple.  Dimensions
