In the northwest corner of the large Place of the Hearth a small chamber was located called the "Chamber of the Place of the Hearth." In this chamber there were stairs that descended to the immersion chamber. The priests climbed these stairs after immersion and warmed themselves by a fire that was in the chamber - hence its name.
