Entrance is forbidden to the Temple Mount while carrying a walking stick, while carrying coins bundled in an obvious manner, while wearing shoes or while engaged in any other activity that would convey a lack of respect. Additionally, one was forbidden to use the Temple Mount as a short cut between two points. (Sources: TractateMidot 2:2; Brachot 62).
