Two tables stood within the Ulam. One table was made of marble (others say of silver) and upon this table the new Showbread loaves were placed before being brought into the Kodesh to be arranged on the Table of the Showbread. The second table was made of gold, and upon this the outgoing breads were placed after being removed from the Table of the Showbread. (Sources: Midot 4:7; Menahot 11:7).
