Here are the qualification:
The heifer must be three years old and perfect in its redness: as few as two hairs of any other color won't do!
Even its hooves must be red!
It must have no blemishes or defects - either on the inside or the outside.
It must have never been used to perform any physical labor.
Even riding on her, or even leaning on her, will disqualify her.
The animal must be a "heifer," that is, 3 or 4 years old, not a day younger,although an older animal could also be used.
A candidate can only be purchased for use as a red heifer once it reaches the age of three years old. However, arrangements can be made for future purchase, and the heifer can be placed in a safe location, so that it won't accidentally injure itself. |
