Psalms around Old Temple Gates Thursday Night

reprinted from Arutz 7
29 Adar 5768, 06 March 08 07:42

(IsraelNN.com) The monthly recital of Psalms and march around the old gates to the Temple Mount will begin at the Western Wall Plaza at a 7 p.m. Thursday night. Thousands of people have joined the monthly ceremony, except for periods of Muslim holidays when the police have banned the prayers and march.

Known in Hebrew as the Sivuv Sha'arim, the two-hour event attracts people, many of them not observant, from as far away as Haifa. Psalms are recited at each of the gates, which are closed but are close to the Temple Mount. Trumpets, designed on the basis of those used in the Holy Temples, are blown throughout the ceremony.
