Holy site closed to visitors until further security assessments made; stun grenades used to disperse rioters.

Two police officers were lightly injured near the Temple Mount Sunday morning when hundreds of Palestinians threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at officers stationed at Mugrabi Gate. The gate stands between the Temple Mount and the Western Wall Plaza.

According to police, the violence began at 8 am.

Riot control units were promptly dispersed to the Temple Mount, where stun grenades were used to disperse the rioters.

Police made two arrests and the holy site was closed to visitors until further security assessments were made, police said.
