Lindenstrauss to Investigate Wakf Digs

reprinted from Arutz 7
12 Cheshvan 5768, 24 October 07 07:45

(IsraelNN.com) The Knesset's state control committee has decided to ask State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss to look into the digs carried out by the Muslim Wakf on the Temple Mount. Archeologists have complained about the digs, which they say destroy valuable artifacts. Israel's Antiquities Authority, headed by Minister of Culture and Sport Raleb Majadele, has done little to stop the digs.

Earlier in the week archeologists announced that they had found artifacts from the First Temple period in a trench dug recently by the Wakf, reportedly to replace electric cables. They argued that the find proved earlier complaints according to which the Wakf should not have been allowed to use bulldozers at the site.
