Hundreds of Jews on Temple Mount; Long Lines Waiting

reposted from Arutz 7
9/25/2012, Tishrei 9, 5773

Hundreds of Jews went up to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Tuesday morning, ahead of tomorrow's Yom Kippur holy day. Long lines extended from the entrance to the holy site because of police documentation of all the Jews who were entering and their identification papers.

There will be a special Yom Kippur service, Wednesday, in a small Jewish building on the Temple Mount, near the Chain Gate, half of which has a holy status. The facility is also used on Tish'a B'Av (Ninth of Av) fast day. The service, established by former chief rabbi Shlomo Goren, after he was banished from the site by Moshe Dayan, is based on prayers said when the Temple stood.
