(IsraelNN.com) The city of Shilo is preparing for mass celebrations of Tu B'Av on Monday. Among other things, the city will offer guided tours, workshops for children and adults, storytelling, and old-fashioned grape pressing beginning at 3 p.m. Beginning at 6 p.m. there will be booths selling food and crafts, clowns, a petting zoo, pony rides, and tours of the Shilo synagogue, which is modeled after the Mishkan (Tabernacle) that was once present in ancient Shilo.
Shilo has been the traditional center of Tu B'Av events since the times of the biblical judges, and strives to hold communal celebrations even today. "The holiday in Shilo is the Jewish answer to foreign 'festivals of love,'" one city official explained.
